ABOUT THE JOURNAL 

The Diviner: A Research Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (ISSN 0973-8320) is a bi-annual Refereed journal published by DAV College, Sector 10, Chandigarh. The journal was started in 2004 and has steadily risen into prominence.

Diviner is a national academic interdisciplinary journal committed to exploring the national and international issues primarily from the socio-economic and political perspectives. The journal features articles that illustrate the use of qualitative and quantitative methods in the solution of substantive problems in all areas of social sciences. The articles in the journal provide in-depth analysis of the divergent themes in social science areas with a multi-dimensional approach.

CALL FOR PAPERS

Diviner invites quality original research papers/articles on theoretical, comparative studies, case studies, empirical analysis, commentaries and reviews concerning different aspects of social science. Journal also welcome book reviews that offer detailed and in depth analysis of recent literature in the social sciences from the authors.

GUIDELINES FOR THE AUTHORS

In order to consider the paper for review it should be submitted in the prescribed format-

  1. Manuscripts should be typed in double space on A-4 size sheets, in Times New Roman and Font size12.
  2. Manuscripts and all editorial correspondence, including comments on the contents of the journal, should be addressed to: The Editor, Diviner, DAV College, Sector 10 Chandigarh. E-mail: editordiviner@gmail.com
  3. Manuscripts should be in the range of 6000-7000words including abstract, references and endnotes.
  4. All articles must be accompanied by an abstract of not more than 150-200 words.
  5. Notes should be numbered serially and presented at the end of the article. Notes, other than website sources, must contain more than a mere reference.
  6. Single quotes should be given right through the articles and double quotes should be given within single quotes. Spellings of words in quotations should not be changed. Quotations of 45 words or more should be separated from the text and indented with one space with a line space above and below.
  7. Tables and figures should be indicated by number separately (see Table 1), not by placement (see Table below). Present each table and figure on a separate sheet of paper, gathering them together at the end of the article.
  8. An amalgamated alphabetical listing of all books, articles, essays, and documents referred to (including any referred to in the tables, graphs and maps) should be provided at the end of the article. The detailed style of referencing is as follows:

  1. It should be original and unpublished work. On acceptance for publication the author will have to send a signed declaration that it has not been published or submittted for publication elsewhere in any language either fully or partly. In case of co-authored paper, all the authors shall sign this declaration.
  2. The author is requested to give his complete address, email and contact number on the front page with title of the paper. The name of the author should not appear on any other page of the paper. It will be apreciated if the author gives brief biographical sketch of himself giving his research interests.
  3. Manuscript not accepted for publication will not be returned to the authors. Please keep copies for your own record.
  4. The views expressed in the articles are personal opinions of the contributors and the journal is in no way responsible for them.
  5. If the paper of the contributor is accepted for publication, it will be mandatory for him to subscribe the journal for one year.

Ethical Policy

Diviner

Ethics deals with human conduct and is concerned with questions pertain to what is right and wrong. Values guide us to live ethically, take the right decisions and act appropriately. In research the ethics and values have prime importance as innovation and research always give direction to society and social relations. If social research is based on ethical principles and values, certainly it will stabilize the society and will give right direction to it.

The Editorial Board of Diviner has recognized the role of ethics in quality peer reviewed articles, research papers, paper writing, paper review and publication. In this respect the following ethical principles and values are given priority in Journal of Diviner:

  • Original manuscript/paper/article/book review is published.
  • The manuscript has neither been published in any other journal nor submitted for publication in any other journal.
  • Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the reported study.
  • The text, illustrations and any other materials included in the manuscript do not infringe upon any existing copyright or other rights of anyone.
  • There is ‘No conflict of interest’, regarding this manuscript.
  • The manuscript does not have any plagiarism.
  • The decision of the Editorial board regarding the publication of manuscript will be final.
  • The Editorial Board has full right to make any change/amendment in the manuscript including the title.
  • Authors may be asked to provide the raw data in connection with a paper for review.
  • The Editorial board has full right to reject the manuscripts without assigning any reason.
  • The copyright of articles vests in the Journal of Diviner who would be free to reproduce them in any compilation/edited volumes.
  • Statements of compliance are required if the work involves procedures or equipment that have any unusual hazards inherent in their use, or if it involves the use of animal or human subjects.
  • Proper acknowledgement for the work should be recorded.
  • The views expressed in the manuscripts are exclusive author’s responsibility and are not to be attributed to the reader, editorial board, and advisory board.
